Abstract:
For many system development applications, security is a crucial
support to be facilitated. The research work aims at making
comparative studies of the nuances in security development for varied
systems such as databases, object systems, natural language processing
systems, networks and e-business systems. The idea is to develop new
security mechanism, which will be meritorious as compared to those for
the existing security systems.
In the first year, the plan is to complete comparative studies about
the differences and similarities of existing security systems. A
detailed literature survey will be carried out.In the second year, the
plan is to model a new security scheme for a field of interest chosen
from the varied systems. In the third year, visible outputs such as
published papers for the work undertaken will be
generated. Furthermore, the work will be related to other aspects of
the systems for which security model is developed. These other aspects
could be exploring the various problems associated with the
development tasks of such systems and the related solutions.
Traditionally security has four components viz., authentication,
authorization, encryption and access control. The latest research is
related to digital water marking, steganography, roll-based access
control, security patterns, web security, digital signatures, etc.,
Development of a new security mechanism is one of the prime intents of
the proposed research work. Broadly the work will cover many issues in
software engineering some problems of which are yet to be identified
concretely for the pursuit of the work.
